Day 14: Saturday, January 18th
Today's Topic: Hope
Read Romans 15:13 AMP: 13May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.
Think about this: Without faith it is impossible to please God, but without hope it is impossible to have faith. According to Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the substance of things hoped for! If you don’t have hope, there is no basis for your faith. What is hope? It’s not wishing and praying that something will happen. Hope is confident expectation with joyful anticipation.
This means that even when it doesn’t look like there is a reason to hope, you hope anyway. Romans 4:18 says this about Abraham- "18Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, 'That’s how many descendants you will have!'" It didn’t seem possible for Abraham to have any children, but he continued to have hope. He confidently expected that God would be true to His word! What have you been believing God for? Have you kept a confident expectation that God will do it for you? Our prayer is that you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in the promises of God!
