Today’s Scripture

“Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well. And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me. Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him. So Saul sent messengers to Jesse and said, Send me David your son, who is with the sheep. And Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread, a skin of wine, and a kid and sent them by David, his son, to Saul. And David came to Saul and served him. Saul became very fond of him, and he became his armor-bearer. Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David remain in my service, for he pleases me. And when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, David took a lyre and played it; so Saul was refreshed and became well, and the evil spirit left him.”

1 Samuel 16:16-23

Today’s Thought

David’s respect for the anointing can teach us all a great lesson... You might not be able to respect the character of a person, and their actions, but make sure you never lose respect for the anointing on the position... Character was theirs to develop, but anointing is from God for His people.

Today’s Confession

Lord, when I have doubts regarding someone’s position, help me to see the anointing on their life. God is the one who places people where He wants them and sometimes they have to grow in character to match it. Help me to be respectful of the anointing on the position, which comes from God, and honor it.
